The craft
of Pu-erh.
The official Keyixing process, from careful picking to the final wrap.
Official process
Nine considered steps.
Traditional judgment, precise handling and Yunnan sunlight shape every batch.
- 01Picking
Tender buds and leaves are carefully picked by hand.
- 02Withering
Fresh leaves release part of their moisture and begin forming aroma.
- 03Kill-green
Fast, even heat halts oxidation and prepares the leaf for rolling.
- 04Rolling
Rolling opens the leaf cells and shapes the material into strands.
- 05Sun-drying
Natural sunlight preserves organic and active compounds in the maocha.
- 06Weighing
Maocha is portioned precisely for each finished format.
- 07Steam pressing
Steam softens the leaf before it is formed in the selected mould.
- 08Drying
Moisture is reduced to a safe level for long-term storage.
- 09Wrapping
Finished tea is protected in breathable food-grade paper.
